Working Hard Again
January thoughts
January is typically the start of old, new, and familiar routines. Getting back to cooking more at home. Moving your body again. Going to bed earlier. Drinking more water. Doing the things you know make you feel better, even when they aren’t exciting.
I know I’ve talked a lot about discipline here, but it feels important to come back to it again. Discipline tends to get a bad reputation this time of year. It’s often viewed as a punishment or restriction, but I don’t see it that way at all. For me, discipline is taking care of yourself. It’s choosing to show up over and over again, even when motivation is low. Actually, especially, when motivation is low.
I’ve realized I feel my best when I keep effort simple and consistent. Lifting weights regularly. Walking often. Eating real food. Progress will come from the consistency not the intensity.
You don’t need the perfect routine or the perfect plan (it doesn’t exist). You just need a plan that you can return to when life gets busy again, because it always does.
January feels like a good time to lay things out and get back to work.
Show up, work hard, and trust that it all adds up.
Here’s a plan that I know will work. You just have to show up.
Do it well,
Alyson
